Budget Rent A Car

Luggage space:
Some vehicles have more space for luggage than others – our staff will be pleased to advise on the best vehicle for your party.

Rates include:
Unlimited kilometres and insurance. Rates are calculated on a 24 hours period.

Insurance excess:
In the event of accident or damage you pay the first NZ$1700 + GST. However, by paying an additional insurance of NZ$17 per day, the excess is reduced to NZ$170 + GST.

Fuel bond:
NZ$100 is payable when you pick up your vehicle but refunded in full if you return your vehicle with a full tank of fuel.

Minimum rental period:
3 consecutive days

One way rental:
Providing you rent for the minimum 3 day period, you may pick up your vehicle at one location and drop off at another.

Inter-Island rental:
There is no need to take your car on the inter-island ferry as there are rental depots at both ferry terminals on North and South Islands. For example, you drop your vehicle off in the North Island at the Wellington terminal, take the ferry across the Cook Strait and pick up another vehicle on arrival at Picton on the South Island. A minimum of 3 days rental on each island is required.

Rental locations:
Most vehicles can be picked up and dropped off at Auckland, Wellington, Picton, Christchurch and Queenstown. Please check at the time of booking.

(Note: All vehicles collected from or returned to an airport or ferry terminal are subject to a ‘Airport & Ferry Collection Fee’ of NZ$20. This must be paid directly to Budget Rent a Car).

Smoking:
Budget has a no smoking policy in all its rental vehicles.
