| In many respects New Zealand is an ideal destination for a cycling holiday - its uncluttered roads and great hospitality are complemented by mile upon mile of superb scenery. Cycling specialists Adventure South offer a choice of great trips. While each crafted itinerary is different, the following features are common to all the holidays: |
| • |
Bike and helmet are included in the holiday price |
| • |
Quality, characterful accommodation |
| • |
Imaginative meals using fresh New Zealand produce |
| • |
Knowledgeable, helpful and cheerful guides |
| • |
A back up vehicle to carry the luggage, and at times you and your bike as well so you can ‘cycle the best and drive the rest!’ |
| • |
One to six hours of cycling per day – your choice |
| • |
Many other activities are offered as well – wine tasting, thermal pools, whale watching, hiking and kayaking (some at additional cost) |
We call the holidays ‘Soft Adventure’. They are soft because we believe you deserve a few home comforts, especially at the end of a long and active day. The trips are all adventurous and exciting and because you can choose how far you cycle each day, you can decide how adventurous you want each day to be. For this reason also, the trips are suitable for cyclists of varying experience and ability.
New Zealand’s country roads are quiet at the busiest of times but on these cycling holidays we do much of our cycling on really minor routes that see little traffic at all. This is part of the joy of cycling in New Zealand but cycling with Adventure South is even better news – we drive most of the up hill sections, leaving you to enjoy the great downhill rides, enhanced by the amazing landscapes and feeling of freedom as the wind rushes past your face. Some of the itineraries include sections of single track – these are narrow trails, rather than roads and involve a different
approach. They can be more challenging, but enormously good fun – in many cases there is an alternative route for those who prefer the road.
A typical Adventure South group consists of between 10 and 14 cyclists, mostly between the ages of 26 and 66 years old. We can also tailor a trip entirely to your own needs if you have your own group of family or friends. Just ask us for details.
