Outline Itinerary
Day 1:	Queenstown-Wanaka We cycle out of Queenstown along the lakeside track to Frankton Arm and the historic gold mining village of Arrowtown. We cycle to Kawarau Gorge and the famous bungy jump from an historic bridge and visit a winery at Chard farm. Then, it’s on to Lake Dunstan and Wanaka. After a break for tea, we take the Fisherman’s Track along the Clutha River and back to Wanaka.
Day 2:	Wanaka-Haast We enjoy the quiet of the morning on a lakeside pedal along the shores of Lake Hawea. Once we start to climb, the vehicle is waiting to transport us to the top of Haast Pass. We then cycle down through the ‘Gates of Haast’ to the flats of the Landsborough River for lunch. After lunch, we continue cycling through the World Heritage rainforests to Haast, the headquarters for this important conservation area, where we stay overnight.
Day 3:	Haast-Fox Glacier Beautiful forest and coastal landscapes dominate the first half of today as we cycle to Bruce Bay. We then use our bus to hasten our arrival at Fox Glacier, where we take a guided walk on the glacier. Optional helicopter trips are also available. If time permits, a walk around stunning Lake Matheson, often rewards hikers with the most wonderful views of the Southern Alps, mirrored on its tranquil surface.
Day 4:	Exploring around the glaciers With a second night in this superb place, we have a chance to do it justice and cycle the road to Franz Josef Glacier, from where we can walk too a viewpoint over its advancing snout.
Day 5:	Hidden lakes, forgotten dreams and primeval forests Today is spent exploring by bus and by bike the undiscovered back country that lies inland from the West Coast. We cycle through ancient podocarp forests, scattered with the lost dreams of one-time gold miners, to Lakes Ianthe, Kaniere and Mahinapua.
Day 6:	Lake Brunner-Christchurch We cycle to Lake Brunner where we can enjoy a swim and some memorable views. Then, it’s back to the West Coast Highway, where we join the coast to coast route. Through sweeping rural landscapes, we cycle part of the famous race route and gradually gain height on the approach to Arthurs Pass and the central Southern Alps. We cross the pass by bus and then join the world famous TranzAlpine Express for the last part of our epic journey into Christchurch.
