We take you to Kaikoura, where you can opt for a whale watch to see sperm whales and other marine life like dolphins, seals and seabirds. We take you to a region of world class wines, to Nelson, a town famed for its arts and crafts and through the mountainous backbone of New Zealand’s scenic South Island, its stunning lakes and forests.
After a free day in Christchurch, we then go on to explore Lake Tekapo, Lake Ohau and the Mt. Cook National Park. Then, it’s over the Lindis Pass to Lake Wanaka, Glenorchy and Te Anau, the gems of the Southern Lakes. A highlight of the trip, we take an overnight cruise on Milford Sound, before ending the tour at the mountain resort of Queenstown – all in all a tempting selection from a menu of scenic delicacies.
The cycling is mostly at recreational level, with the option of some single tracks for those who would like to stretch themselves a little further. The great thing about this kind of trip is the flexibility to cycle as much, or as little, as you feel like on any particular day. This is soft adventure – soft because we expect you to also enjoy the other good things in life, like comfortable, characterful accommodation, innovative meals and the chance to taste some of New Zealand’s fine wines and soak it all off in steaming thermal pools.
