As a company, we set high standards in the way we treat the natural world and we encourage all our clients to travel with care. Over the years we have donated or helped raise, well over £140,000 for a number of wildlife organisations including the Born Free Foundation; World Land Trust; Whale & Dolphin Conservation Society; Worldwide Fund for Nature and the Polar Bear Surrogacy Programme working in partnership with Manitoba Conservation.
At DTW we:
- Choose destinations where conservation measures are taken seriously and small scale tourism can be properly managed
- Keep groups to a small size to avoid disturbing or even destroying the things that attract people to wild areas in the first place
For our clients we:
- Always aim to provide a higher quality experience – clients are asked to complete a questionnaire on return from their trip, in order for us to monitor the quality of their experience and to ensure we are efficient in every aspect of our operations
- Ensure that the desire of our clients is to learn more about the destination they are visiting, such as culture, geology and wildlife – we do this by providing comprehensive dossiers specific to each destination with advice on appropriate dress, local customs etc.
- Provide all clients with a suggested code of ethics and guidelines on appropriate behavior and customs, such as tipping.
- Produce a number of high quality VHS videos to accompany our holidays and provide a wide selection of books for information
- Provide clients travelling to Iceland a ‘Travel Tips’ booklet to read before they go and refer to whilst on their trip.
In addition to the above, we have also produced a set of traveller's advice notes, which we hope will be beneficial for both our clients and the host country concerned.
DTW also operates a programme called Discover the Living Planet, which offers educational trips and field studies, which aim to educate on the history and heritage of many destinations including Iceland, Jordan and the USA. |
