With suppliers and agents we (Continued) :
- DTW sponsors a room in the National Whale Museum in Husavik in Iceland. We have supported the expansion of this museum, a project dedicated to showing the value, both commercial and environmental, of whale watching as an industry. Our clients are encouraged to visit this facility to learn about the history of whaling and whale watching
- Work in partnership with AITO and a number of various charities worldwide
In the office we:
- Manage our office environment efficiently by recycling materials such as paper, plastics and computer consumables to reduce waste, promote electronic communication to reduce paper use and are actively working towards a paperless office.
- Minimise electricity consumption by turning off all computers, fans, printers, lights etc. at night and we do our best to minimise waste of water.
- Encourage home working where possible
- Print our brochures on paper that is from a sustainable source. We do not always print our brochures yearly and to further eliminate wastage we keep strict stock control of our printed brochures and recycle any surplus, unused or old supplies by a local agent
- We encourage our clients to use our website and also now have some ‘web only based’ products
- We have a dedicated Responsible Tourism Manager who is committed to developing our Responsible Tourism policy further. We will continue to increase the awareness of our ground agents through regular communication and are open to any ideas and suggestions from our staff, clients and agents
- We fully support the ‘AITO guidelines’ to responsible tourism
Please read our Advice notes on how you can help us to keep our trips sustainable for the future. If you have any concerns before or after your trip that you would like to bring to our attention or any ideas on how we can operate more responsibly please email them to kieran @discover-the-world.co.uk
