enjoy the drive over the high road to Larnach Castle
Grounds for a photostop and onto the famous Taiaroa
headland
wildlife reserve. This is an area steeped in the
history of Dunedin,
home to Maori tribes with the area known as Otakau
from which the
name for the Province, Otago was derived and visit
an underground
bunker for the “Armstrong Disappearing Gun”.
Visit the Royal
Albatross Centre where you will enjoy a video and
talk on the life of
the albatross and a guided tour to an observatory
overlooking the
nest site. |

| We drive by coach along the shore of Otago Harbour to the tip of the scenic Otago Peninsula. Here we visit a colony of yellow-eyed penguins, the rarest penguins in the world, which may number as few as 4,000, and are only found in New Zealand. Then we take a wildlife trip on the MV Monarch, and with luck we may be entertained with sightings of royal albatross, cormorant, penguin and fur seals as we cruise along this beautiful stretch of coast. |
