Outline Itinerary [2/2]
Day 7: West Coast Glaciers-Queenstown
Travel through sub-tropical rainforest to Haast Pass, renowned for its dramatic mountain scenery. Visit popular Arrowtown. Next 2 nights at the Mercure Resort Queenstown. The hotel overlooks beautiful Lake Wakatipu and the ‘Remarkables’ mountain range.
Day 8: Queenstown
Time at leisure to relax or to explore at your own pace this picturesque alpine resort. Your Tour Director will assist with suggestions (optional activities at own expense). Join a late afternoon cruise on scenic Lake Wakatipu aboard the vintage steamship TSS Earnslaw. Enjoy dinner then a sheep and farm dog demonstrations at Walter Peak High Country Station.
Day 9: Queenstown-Milford Sound-Te Anau
Journey to Milford Sound via Te Anau, gateway to the Fiordland National Park. Cruise spectacular Milford Sound and be enthralled by views of the towering Mitre Peak and the beautiful Bowen Falls. Return to the quaint forested lakeside town of Te Anau for an overnight at the Luxmore Hotel.
Day 10: Te Anau-Dunedin
Leave Fiordland and journey via rural communities to Dunedin. Be captivated by the grandeur of a bygone era in a guided tour of historic Olveston House. Overnight at the Kingsgate Hotel Dunedin. Homestay Option available. (Opportunity to experience traditional hospitality and delicious home- cooked meals in the Dunedin region at no extra cost - must be prebooked).
Day 11: Dunedin-Omarama
Enjoy an informative tour of the city. Join a tour of magnificent Larnach Castle before travelling to the intriguing Moeraki Boulders. Follow the Waitaki River to Omarama. Overnight at the well appointed Heritage Gateway Hotel.
Day 12: Omarama-Christchurch
Pass picturesque Lake Pukaki and stop to view Mount Cook (weather permitting). View the Church of the Good Shepherd, the lush green Canterbury Plains and see Lake Tekapo. Arrive at Christchurch and enjoy a sightseeing tour of this elegant city. Next 2 nights at the centrally located Grand Chancellor Hotel.
Day 13: Christchurch
Today is free to enjoy this beautiful city. Perhaps go punting on the Avon River or take stroll through the stunning Botanic Gardens. Your Tour Director will assist with any arrangements (Optional activities at own expense). Enjoy a farewell dinner.
Day 14: depart Christchurch
Transfer to Christchurch airport for your flight home.
