Outline Itinerary [1/2] >>
Day 1:	arrive Auckland Arrive Auckland where you will be met and transferred to Rydges Hotel Auckland for an overnight stay. Rest of day at leisure.
Day 2:	Auckland-Waitomo-Rotorua Journey to the top of Mt Eden, Auckland's highest extinct volcano, then head southward to Goldfields Railway. This vintage train will carry you through the upper reaches of hte stunning Karangahake Gorge. Continue on to Mt Maunganui before arriving in Rotorua, the heartland of New Zealand's Maori culture. Enjoy a traditional Maori cultural performance followed by a hangi feast. Spend two nights at Rydges Rotorua.
Day 3:	Rotorua Take a morning ride on the Gondola for spectacular views over the city and Lake Rotorua followed by a sumptuous breakfast at the Skyline Restaurant. Visit the Agrodome for an entertaining sheep shearing show then head to Te Puia Thermal Valley and the fascinating Maori Arts and Craft Centre. This afternoon is at leisure for you to relax or explore this unique area.
Day 4:	Rotorua-Wellington Journey to Taumaranui and board The Overlander for a magnificent afternoon’s onto New Zealand’s awesome volcanic plateau. Overnight at the centrally located Mercure Hotel Wellington.
Day 5:	Wellington-Picton-Christchurch Join the ferry and cruise through Marlborough and Queen Charlotte Sounds to Picton on the South Island. Board the TranzCoastal train to enjoy one of New Zealand’s most spectacular coastal journeys! Arrive in Christchurch and overnight at the centrally located Grand Chancellor Hotel.
Day 6:	Christchurch-West Coast Glaciers Board the famous TranzAlpine express train for a spectacular journey to Arthur’s Pass. Visit a Greenstone (Jade) Factory at Hokitika. Continue south to Franz Josef Glacier. Opportunity for a scenic helicopter flight (own expense and weather permitting). Overnight at the friendly Scenic Circle Fox Glacier Country Hotel nestled in the Westland National Park.
