Outline Itinerary [1/4] >>
Day 1: arrive Auckland
You will be met on arrival and transferred to your accommodation.
Day 2:

Auckland
Collect your 4x4 vehicle and explore Auckland’s fascinating west coast scenery. Highlights include Piha and the Muriwai Gannet Colony, as well as a choice of local vineyards.

Day 3: Auckland-Whangamata (300 km)
Your 4x4 will be delivered to your hotel then make your way to the Coromandel Peninsula. Visit Cathedral Cove and Hot Water Beach, where you can dig yourself a natural hot pool in the sand. Continue to Whangamata for 2 nights.
Day 4: hiking the Wentworth Valley
Hike the lush Wentworth Valley to the waterfalls, and beyond if you are feeling energetic. Grade 1-3 hike.
Day 5: Whangamata-Rotorua (190 km)
Drive to Rotorua, where you can visit geysers and mud pools as well as the Maori cultural village. You may wish to attend a ‘hangi’, a traditional Maori feast (optional).
Day 6: hiking in the Whirinaki Forest
Whirinaki is one of the best preserved rainforests on the North Island. Rare birds like the kaka and karearea may be seen during today’s 5-6 hour hike. Grade 2 hike.
Day 7:

Rotorua-Tongariro National Park (230 km)
Drive through the heart of the North Island to Tongariro National Park, renowned for its dramatic volcanic landscapes.
