| New Zealand is a paradise for hikers, its dozens of national parks and reserves criss-crossed by well laid out and signed trails and served by a network of well spaced backcountry cabins and mountain huts. |
| With stunning scenery just about everywhere you travel, it is not surprising that the New Zealanders themselves are great ‘trampers’. And they are spoiled for choice – there are gentle winding coastal tracks, rainforest tramps, valley walks, volcano summits, alpine passes and lakeside trails.
Most of the national parks offer short walks from 30 minutes to several hours but one of the great joys of hiking in New Zealand is the extraordinary variety of long-distance trails, lasting from one to seven or more days, of which the Milford Track is internationally famous.
We offer different kinds of walking holiday in New Zealand, all using established local specialist operators, many of whom work only in their own region, so really know the lie of the land.
