| Lake Brunner Lodge stands amongst timeless primeval forests at the edge of New Zealand's Southern Alps. An accommodation house since the West Coast was first settled in the 1870's, the Lodge was built to replace the original building in 1935. 11 rooms, large, light, airy and simply decorated. Many of the rooms have uninterrupted views over the lake and others face a courtyard of mature rhododendrons. Walking trails lead to the 100-foot Mitchell's Waterfall in the mountains behind and around the lake edge. For the more energetic there are mountain bikes and canoes. The Lodge has been recognised as a leading wild brown trout destination since the turn of the century. Approximately 50 minutes by car from Hokitika, 45 minutes by car from Greymouth and 3 hours by car from Christchurch. |
