Tarawera Legacy combines 3 attractions to tell you Rotorua's greatest story. Follow in the path of the Tuhourangi people, a sub-tribe of Te Arawa, from their arrival in the Rotorua region, through to the devastating 1886 eruption of Mt Tarawera through to the ancestors of these people living today. The Legacy includes entry to the Rotorua Museum, The Buried Village and Whakarewarewa Thermal Village. This can be a self drive product including entry to the attractions or a shuttle service can be included. No hotel pick up/drop off included.

Departs ex Visitor Information Centre. Discover Rotorua onboard a WWII amphibious vehicle able to travel on land and water! Tour begins in town where Rotorua's rich history unfolds before you as you tour local landmarks and share stories and legends of the past. Highlights include Lake Rotorua, Mokoia Island, Geothermal Sulphur Point, Government Gardens, The Museum, Blue Baths and much more… The adventure continues as you venture out to the spectacular lakes area for “SPLASHDOWN” into Lakes Tikitapu (Blue Lake) and Okareka. Visit a small lakeside community where the Duck's elevation affords magnificent views of Mt Tarawera. No hotel pick up/drop off included.

Depart your hotel and visit Wai-O-Tapu and the famous Lady Knox Geyser before continuing onto the Waimangu Volcanic Valley. Continue through this amazing valley and view colourful hot springs, pools and geysers before boarding a boat for a cruise on Lake Rotomahana. Then it's onto Lake Tarawera for lunch at the Landing Restaurant. View the Blue and Green Lakes on the way back into Rotorua. Visit the city gardens and shoreline of Lake Rotorua before returning to the hotel.
