Comprehensive Nature Tour Manual
We make sure that you are fully prepared before setting off – you are provided with a comprehensive Nature Tour Manual containing:
Route Map
Nature notes detailing plants, animals and birds you may expect to encounter, together with line drawings to help you identify them.
Descriptions of nature walks and trail maps
Geology and history notes on places you will visit
Background notes on a particular subject, e.g. vegetation, whales & dolphins

In fact the Tour Manual contains just about everything you will need to know about New Zealand’s natural history. Compiled by leading ornithologists, botanists, naturalists and historians, it is the perfect companion for a self-guided nature tour.
Natural Highlights
Apart from the stunning scenery, which can be enjoyed just about anywhere you go in New Zealand, the sort of wild attractions you can expect to encounter are hugely varied and enormously interesting. They include:
The national icons – the silver fern and the flightless, nocturnal kiwi
The mighty kauri tree, elegant nikau palm, dazzling pohutukawa and primordial tree fern
Keas – the mischievous mountain parrots
White herons, black stilts and yellow-eyed penguins
Sperm whales, dusky and Hector’s dolphins
Fur seals
The timeless tuatara – a living fossil
The royal albatross
Accommodation & Vehicles
Our Self-Drive Nature Tours use a mix of accommodation consisting of motels, hotels and farmstays – all of a good standard. Each itinerary offers two grades of accommodation, either ‘tourist’ grade or ‘deluxe’. All accommodation is pre-booked for you.
