An orientation tour of Oban and the surrounding bays. Travelling in modern mid-sized coaches, passengers will
receive an informative, comprehensive commentary providing an entertaining insight into Stewart Island's community, history and environment. Points of interest include Halfmoon Bay, Horseshoe Bay and Lee Bay, the gateway to Rakiura National Park, and there is plenty of time available for photo stops and walks. A cruise of Halfmoon Bay on board a semi-submersible craft where passengers are comfortable seated in the hull below the water line. Large viewing windows and clear water allow close up views of rich marine life including diverse fish species, sponges sea squirts, mussels, paua and massive kelp forests with commentary from the onboard nature guide. No hotel pick up/drop off included.

Take the water taxi from Golden Bay Wharf for a 40 minute ride along the coast to Port William. Some seabirds may be viewed depending on the year. Port William was once the site of an early Maori settlement and sealing depot. It was also briefly settled by Shetland immigrants. During your walk, your guide will provide informative commentary on Stewart Island's early history and the areas forest and birdlife. Enjoy this superb coastal walk with views across to the South Island. At Maori Beach, you will stop for lunch before continuing on to picturesque Little River and Lee Bay. Time to enjoy the magical views at Lee Bay and refreshments before continuing on to Horseshoe Bay and Oban Township. Tour includes water taxi, refreshments and Department of Conservation fees. Lunch is available at an extra cost or bring your own. A good level of fitness is required with about 12 kms (7.5 miles) walking involved. No hotel pick up/drop off included but can be arranged at an extra cost.

A twilight boat cruise to a remote area and a walk through native bush where kiwi can be seen. Spot the kiwi’s on a sandy beach as they feed amongst the kelp. Please wear sturdy footwear and warm clothes. The Department of Conservation does not allow the use of flash photography.
